FirstRand Limited was founded in 1970 as a specialist investment bank by GT Ferreira, Laurie Dippenaar and Paul Harris. FirstRand has its own portfolio of operating projects namely, First National Bank (FNB), Rand Merchant Bank (RMB), Wesbank and Ashburton Investments. FNB (First National Bank) offers retail and business banking products such as home mortgages, debit and credit cards, personal loans and investment services and products in addition to transactional and deposit-taking, credit acquiring, credit facilities and distribution channels services. RMB (Rand Merchant Bank) is a financial services company offering investment banking, fund management, corporate banking, and advisory products and services. Bursaries applications can be submitted throughout the year, as some of these bursaries do not have an appointed time of closing date, but for candidates applying CSIR BURSARY are urged to send their applications ahead of time, so it reaches them before the closing date.

Level/Field of Study:

FirstRand Laurie Dippenaar scholarship is for postgraduate international study, available to South African students in virtually any field at an international university of their own choice.

Host Nationality:

Eligible Nationality:

Scholarship Benefits:

The bursary may cover the following expenses: registration costs, tuition fees, prescribed textbooks allowance, accommodation, meal allowance, laptop allowance, and a living allowance. The bursary is worth R750 000 yearly. The successful candidate will be asked to come back to South Africa for five or more years after graduation.
