Mrs. Whitehead gave generously to educational institutions throughout her life, and she had a special empathy for elderly women in need.  The Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation was created by Conkey Pate Whitehead, Mrs. Whitehead’s youngest son, as a memorial to his mother.
